So if you want to record your own/first UTAU vb, here are some tips to make it sound better!
-Record your sounds a little long. When you're recording count to at least 1-2 seconds in your head. (or else when you play your UTAU's sounds on UTAU, it might sound a little demonic.)
-otoing can be hard at first (someone else otoed my vb for me..lol.) So If someone else wants to oto your vb for you, let them xD And once their done, look at your vb settings in UTAU, and learn how to oto by looking at what the other person did to your sounds. (That's what I did at least)
-Record with whatever kind of voice you want (soft, powerful, etc.)
-be sure you know how to pronounce your sounds correctly.
That's all I have. lol.
I'll put a sample up of my 1st UTAU I've ever made, and you can pretty much tell what was wrong with mine. xD
I had a really bad mic, and I recorded my sounds too short, oh and no oto. xD

And to be loud and clear.
I was loud and clear with my UTAU, Re:Mix, but...I was beginning to get the feel of allergies BARELY, and now he's a tiny bit nasally. Not that bad, but you can hear the hint of it. xD;;
Thank you so much! This is the first time I heard of someone liking his voice x3
But aww. You don't remember where you heard him? ; w;
but when I record for vcv hopefully I won't have that problem
anyway these are good tips but for otoing I suggest that people watch or look at tutorials because some people don't oto correctly and with my last vb I neglected to cut off some of the consonants, especially on the 's' sounds /stabbed
also no one should pitch their voice down, even if they want to make a male vb, I pitched my voice down for one once when I was inexperienced and it was really scary. I mean if they can make opposite gender vbs using their natural voice that's fine but don't pitch it up or down.
and also with recording people need to stay pretty consistent...my old vbs you can see I clearly didn't...I've learned a lot.../shot
and when making them sing you can make them sing in different octaves but don't change it to a random key or making it comfortable for them by playing the song in a different key.
yeah that's all I got >~>
I've also pitched my own voice before..awful chipmunk..that's all I can say.
